Policing has rapidly moved away from what the public in this country want OR deserve. There are 'police leaders' who are no doubt feeding their own Machiavellian agenda with a view to their own career enhancement. This idea is nonsense as policing has always about life experience and not about further bureaucracy in the form of degree level education before a candidate is accepted into the rank.
ReplyReport this commentHaving attempted to train student officers with degrees I find they fall in two camps. the first are those who have an ideal of what policing is but balk at the notion of dealing with the less educated members of society. Then there are those who do not want to learn because they are going to be managers and policing is not their problem. You do not need a degree to police, nurse or fight fires. You need common sense intelligence and empathy.
