Steve White: 'Home secretary, we are not friends'

Tue, 26 May 2015

After the stunned silence that resulted from the Home Secretary's address at last year's Police Federation conference in Bournemouth, can the government and the organisation bury the hatchet to 'save' policing? Check out our exclusive interviews with both Federation chairman Steve White and Theresa May and make your mind up.

What a bad lady. Now with a mandate watch her dismantle the remaining recognisable remnants of what used to be world leading policing to what will be "the best it can be" with reduced funding resulting in poor response times fewer crimes being investigated less patrolling et al. I am sure we all used to be very proud of what we could achieve and I am sure the thousands of dedicated officers will try their very best to do astonishing things but it is almost intolerable what she has heaped on the service. The next five years promises to be the worst in the history of the service. She has another egotistical megalomaniac prop in Mr Gove.

She comes across as a very nasty, vindictive and arrogant woman.
She really does nothing to endear herself to anyone, except Michael Gove,
who appears to think she is the best thing since sliced bread.

As far as the Government is concerned I believe that only when G4 are sworn in and working on minimum pay will the government be happy. We could even get a Commissioner appointed from wthin their own families.

I know where I'd LIKE to bury the hatchet, but unfortunately it's illegal.....

As an ordinary member of the Great British Public I was somewhat underwhelmed to hear that the Home Secretaries ambition for the next five years for our Police Service to 'be the best it can be', presumably from the resources the Government is prepared to make available. I have wondered whether the changes announced to targeting will allow any change in performance to be masked but I am not sufficiently knowledgable to make that call.

Reform means the improvement or amendment of what is wrong, corrupt, unsatisfactory, etc. So is Frau May alleging the police are corrupt and unsatisfactory? Or does she mean everything is wrong and needing amended? Im sure Herr Tom of the House Winsor will tell us one day.

The Conservative Party was once the party of law and order, no longer. Remember just before Mrs Thatcher got into power the police were at war with the Labour Party and there was a great deal of talk about a police strike in 1976. Mrs Thatcher got in and gave the police the pay rise recommended. Now this government is looking just like the Labour Government in the 1970 and a police strike could once again start to talked about in the rank and file of the police

I was actually put out of a job twice by her, once with the force I worked with cutting back on her recommendations, and then when she abolished the NPIA by act of Parliament. At which point i knew that Cybercrime was a dead and dying policing field to be working in!

The police service, like other public sector bodies, can see what's happening in this country months or years before anyone else. Now the climate of fear and secrecy enforced across the public sector prevents the truth from getting out.

There does need to be change but it has to be for the better, not Mrs Mays load of arrogant bile she sprouts. What an evil horrible self pinioned bitch she is. The government need to get their corrupt house in order first and stop looking after their own money friends. I am so so pleased I am retired I think I saw the better days.

The police forces (sorry police services) are under constant political and media attack although to be fair not helped by the Federation and a certain officer lying about the fracas outside Downing Street, what on earth was that officer thinking? In addition we have the CPS pursuing and wasting millions of £s in a witch hunt against the press. As with all matters like this the rank and file are left with dealing with the everyday dangers of modern policing with little support from their superiors, the PCC and the politicians like Theresa May.

If this woman is allowed to keep tearing our police forces apart bit by bit there will be nothing left for us to be proud of. Her reckless attitude to more cutbacks leave each & every officer at risk of unnecessary assaults & attacks. No officer should be working single crewed but it's happening more & more, any injuries or god forbid murders of these single crewed officers will be blood on her hands! To loose 17,000 officers is madness, anymore will leave what was the best police force in the world, in tatters. Theresa May should be ashamed of herself.
