We are currently recruiting for an experienced Administrator to work as a Field Intelligence Development Officer (Ports) on a long-term, full-time contract based at Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire.
The role is office based, and applicants must hold a valid UK drivers’ licence.
The role is paying between £13.53p and £14.38p per hour (PAYE) depending on experience.
Job profile:
To lead on identifying and recovering stolen vehicles being exported through UK ports, through intelligence development and partnership working. To investigate crime and any other investigations at a level deemed appropriate in support of objectives.
This role will encompass a wide range of investigative activities including searches to identify and seize stolen property; and may occasionally involve dealing with suspects, file building and full Officer in the Case (OIC) responsibilities including attending court and giving evidence.
Main Responsibilities:
1. The role holder will be required to have an understanding of the shipping industry. 2. To evaluate, manage & develop intelligence ethically and effectively in line with the National Intelligence Model.
3. The role holder will carry out intelligence research, develop intelligence to produce intelligence profiles and reports for police forces to assist with identifying suspects and OCG’s
4. Profile, research and examine export cargo to identify stolen vehicles and those responsible.
5.Provide an excellent service to victims and industry partners by ensuring they form the core of any investigation and by keeping them updated regularly
6. To identify current and future threats to the nation posed by criminal activity and escalate accordingly.
7. To support regional units and other law enforcement in tackling crime by using a variety of methods of obtaining intelligence and evidence.
8. To work in partnership with other law enforcement agencies and private industry, particularly shipping, freight and insurance companies
9. Participate in operational activities to identify and recover stolen vehicles.
10. The role holder will be expected to complete relevant Intelligence Professionalism Programme (IPP) accreditation. In their role they will fulfil the role of a Police Support Officer to utilise designated powers of searching, seizure and retention of investigative material.
Experience:
Essential:
Experience in evidence gathering and intelligence work due to the complex nature and responsibilities of the role.
A working knowledge of criminal law and the criminal justice system, CPIA, RIPA, Data Protection, CHIS code of practise, covert intelligence and investigation.
Evidenced report writing and communication skills e.g. the production of clear, concise and accurate records, letters and reports as well as verbal delivery and presentation to diverse audiences.
Either a qualified vehicle examiner, or prepared to attend and complete the vehicle examiner course
Desirable:
A working knowledge of vehicle telematics
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation / risk assessment
To have an understanding of vehicle crime reduction
Additional:
Whilst the post is located at a UK Port, the post holder may be required to visit various locations during working hours and drive a police vehicle to undertake enquiries therefore the role holder must hold a current full driver’s licence and be prepared to take and pass a Force driving course if required.
There may be occasions when the distance travelled requires the post holder to stay in overnight accommodation which will be provided.
From time to time, you may be requested to work additional hours or overtime. The organisation values your willingness to co-operate with any reasonable request.
