Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Fire Safety Manager on behalf of our client based in Manchester.
This is a full-time role on a fixed term contract initially till 28/3/25 at £400 per day.
The successful candidate will be undertaking all fire safety management duties, manage the FRA remedial works programme, act as the lead for property fires, liaise with GMFRS for and to work with the Building Safety Manager in the managing MCC’s 12,500 stock, including high rise accommodation.
This is a driving role so a clean license and vehicle is required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective delivery of all fire safety works are completed to a high level of customer satisfaction, to a standard of legal compliance.
- Providing assurance to the Head of Design & Delivery, Executive Management team and the relevant Corporate Board and the Housing Advisory Board on all fire safety compliance matters.
- Support and advise on procurement of contractors for fire safety works, drafting work specifications and quality standards where needed.
- Participate on tender of valuation and contractor selection as required.
- You will also follow up on incidents, be involved in our new developments and provide help and advice to all colleagues and managers across the business.
- Providing on going advice on the competency of contractors to undertake works and ensuring robust contract management of the selected contractors by monitoring quality of work to determine compliance with fire safety legislation and guidance.
Ensure fire risk assessments, inspections and audits across all stock, including residential premises, and work places are undertaken.
- You will be out on site regularly undertaking inspections, surveys and audits to our buildings and in particular to our in-scope buildings.
- Develop and implement fire safety emergency plans and procedures for all residential and work place premises.
- You will help shape the team’s approach to fire & building safety.
- In particular you will help prepare the organisation for the impending legislative changes.
- You will help establish policies, procedures and systems that ensure fire & building safety is managed with appropriate records kept.
- In addition, you will assist with our fire risk assessment programme.
- Over 400 buildings will require a fire risk assessment; this generates a significant amount of actions over the year. You will assist in ensuring actions are fully addressed with appropriate evidence.
Person Specification
- You must have worked in a similar role
- You will have sound technical knowledge and experience
- You will be organised and methodical with a logical approach to building and fire safety.
- You will be a team player who can work effectively with internal teams, external agencies and residents with the focus being on building and fire safety.
You will have great IT skills who can produce reports and statistical data that provide good information that improves understanding.
You must be able to demonstrate current knowledge of relevant legislation, ideally with experience of practical application.
