The importance of developing national and international partnerships to solve global law enforcement problems
ADVERTORIAL by Nottingham Trent University
Law enforcement is a global phenomenon and touches us all, whether it be through professional association or as a member of the global public.
International law enforcement does by its very nature cross boundaries, yet the issues that face the world today are intrinsically linked across the globe.
International law enforcement at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) focuses on key elements that cross the world today. At NTU we have focused our efforts on key areas we feel affect the world today both in an organisational and a more personal sense.
It is for that reason the Centre for International Law enforcement works with industry professionals and organisations to solve problems.

Research Methods
This module will see you learn about the different approaches to research, including issues such as ethics, accessing or gathering data, data analysis and how to draw valid conclusions from your data.
Crime Prevention
The aim of the module is to explore how we might reduce different crimes as well as how we assess the effectiveness of preventive measures. This module will therefore consider wider government agendas, legislation, ‘what works’, partnership working and community safety.
Evidence-Based Policing
This module will help you understand how evidence of effectiveness can be produced in policing, the difficulties of producing evidence and how to overcome them, and what evidence exists in different areas of policing.
Crime Community and Neighbourhood
The aim of this module is to enable you to explore the relationship between crime and place by focusing upon the concepts of ‘place poverty’ and ‘neighbourhood effects’ as a means to understanding the local crime environments inhabited by different individuals and communities.
Principles of Fraud Investigation
It will introduce the management techniques and strategies for detection of fraud offences that will challenge students to critically analyse their current understanding of the subject. Students will critically appraise and reflect upon case specific investigative strategic approaches. To achieve these there will also be present an understanding of how world economies are affected by the globalisation of fraud.
National Partners | NTU works with forces in England and Wales along with the College of Policing, collaborating and advising on series of research initiatives to solve issues within communities. | |
International Partners | Nottingham Trent University international collaborators have seen tremendous success. Over 8 years, the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) have collaborated to offer Postgraduate Diploma (Level 7) and Professional Diploma (Level 5) studies. This collaboration has resulted in noticeable improvements in the quality of students who are investigative officers of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Specifically, there has been an improvement in their critical thinking skills and their ability to apply their investigative duties in the fields of investigation, intelligence, and legislation.
“The honourable Dato’ Haji Idris Bin Zaharudin, Director of MACA” |
